Two consecutive wins have suddenly lifted the Temple Owls to a 5-5 record. With a pair of games remaining on the regular season schedule, Temple will need at least one victory to reach the six-victory minimum required for a bowl game. Even if the Owls do go 6-6, it is fairly unlikely that they will be invited to a bowl. This puts a lot of pressure on their next match up against #14 UCF and the following one against Tulsa.
Temple will come into the conference game as underdogs to the UCF Golden Knights, but must view the game as a must win. Spoiling the UCF undefeated season would rocket the Owls into postseason contention. The Owls defeated the Golden Knights 26-25 a year ago in an excellent game in Florida. This was the turning point of a very successful Temple season. With their home fans behind them, Temple is sure to come out guns blazing.
It seems as though junior quarterback, Frank Nutile, has settled in since earning the starting job mid-season. He has been outstanding during the two consecutive Owls wins. In his last game, a win over Navy, he went 22-30 with 289 yards and four touchdowns. Newtile and the Owls offense will have to be on their game once again to match a UCF attack that is averaging 45.5 points per game in 2017.
